The Vraccusean Chronicles - Chapter 1: Geas quest

Whistles rang throughout the ship indicating the voyage to Vraccus was safely coming to an end. The protector mages that patrol the decks eased their watch of the horizons. The airship had finally arrived within the safety of the capital. Despite the high tension of the mages most of the passengers carried on a jovial attitude. They didn’t lose any of their brothers or sisters in arms not a few weeks ago when a ship much like this passenger's vessel was torn from the sky by a pair of massive roc’s. Enormous wild birds that prey on unsuspecting humanoids. The guards shuffled to their cots below deck to rest as the ship pulls into the harbor in the middle of the city. Each eager to rest and thank the gods they didn’t have to defend their crew and passengers this time. Passengers flocked to the rails of the ship hoping to see the capital city in all of its sprawling glory. A grand city nestled between two oceans in a thin stretch of land. Gargantuan walls snaked around the city lined with

War of Nerves - Prologue

They called it C-Day. Contact Day. The day that humanity learned it was not alone in the universe. Most writers and futurologists had predicted that the human race would meet a benign intelligence, that excessive aggression would lead a species to extinction long before they could ever travel to the stars.     They were wrong.     Contact with an alien race began when a fleet of enormous steel bricks appeared in orbit, proceeding to detonate a series of high-energy fusion bombs in the upper atmosphere. At first, the leaders of the world were unsure why the new arrivals, if they had hostile intent, did not simply nuke major cities. In fact,

Rage (badly harnessed)

Politicians take many forms. However, the form of the overly privileged, middle-aged, rich white man seems to be pervasive. This brings us to one Oliver Lionel Alexander Charles St John Buckingham, who woke up last week to find himself the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom.     Now, let’s not beat around the shrubbery here: he wanted this job. Ever since his days at Eton warming the toilet seat on cold mornings for prefects, as a way of both contracting piles and avoiding the sexual assault of young boys by their elders that seems perfectly acceptable in English public schools, Oliver wanted power. At his ludicrously expensive posh

Life in Vale: Vol.2: Chapter 4: Reunion

A few things before we get started: 1. I don’t own RWBY, RWBY belongs to their respective owners at Rooster Teeth, if you guys want to see the series, a link will be in the description. 2. This story is inspired by “Male! Faunus! ReaderXRWBY: Intro” by neo-chan7. I recommend reading her stories, they are a great read. A link to her for her story will be provided in the description. 3. The four characters in this story do not actually exist in RWBY; they are made up characters I created, solely for creating a story and entertaining readers. 4. I know RWBY OC's must have names that resemble a color, but I decided to bend that

The Krockman: part 24.2

As Arlo looked around, he heard something that sounded like yelling, accompanied by banging. Tracking down the noise, he found that it was coming from the trunk of a car. Concerned for whoever was in their, Arlo immediately opened the trunk, only to be shocked by what he saw. It was a woman, dressed in business casual and her long, blonde hair draped over her back. Looking on in surprise, Arlo asked, “Are you alright? How long have you been in here?” “I’m fine,” the woman said as Arlo helped her out of the trunk. “I’m stiff as hell, but I’m fine. I can breathe at least. Can’t believe that

Neither Rhyme nor Reason

The creature stirred from within the pit of its own filth. Blinking open one mucus-encrusted eye, it looked to the growing dawn that provided meagre illumination through the grimy window.    Its time had come. The hobgoblin is a poor imitation of humanity. It manages to mimic certain basal human behaviours, but its comprehension of them is minimal. There is no kindness; no consideration; no love. The hobgoblin thinks only of itself and those it perceives as being in some way kindred. Anyone or anything else are just there to be walked on, to hold up the hobgoblin in pursuit of its goals.    This hobgoblin had wormed its way into the mind o

Incomplete

A step taken back. A glance turned away. A sentence without a period. A question without a mark. An answer without words. A paint by numbers with empty spaces. A sketch with only one eye drawn in. A sculpture with its pieces strewn about a table. A story with its chapter left hanging forever. A dream forgotten with the past. A hope left behind after leaving home. A wonder never engaged or analyzed. A path unfollowed and ignored. A world dissipating and vanishing. A life ended far too soon.

The Clock Face, And Mine, The Same

Notes, at my desk, to remind me, of the things that I need to do A heart is beating inside me, with the loves I thought I once knew With each tick-tock, I am locking, As I stare at clock upon wall My heart pounds sounds of knocking, But I need not answer it's call Be gone, for I knew you not I must insist that you go The fall, and it all, for what? I do not wish to know These phantom fists, how they do persist And Oh, how they so make me cringe So relentless, but I still resist, Till they bust this heart from it's hinge. Time Marches on, in it's tick-tock form, As I stare at clock upon wall It' hands might be cold, not welcoming warm Its

Through the Wall (KuroFai) (Part One)

Gone.     Gone.     A gaping hole, right there, in the midst of organs and tissue, all-consuming. Tears and more tears, endless waves that did not fill the gap, yet flooded, drowned everything. Empty words of comfort from select few reverberating, meaning well and yet not meaning anything, grasping without purchase in the mind.     They didn’t understand. No. No one did. No one cared past a few written words or a bowed head. They didn’t even want to comfort him at all, most of them. Not someone like him, of his background, who didn’t deserve it in the eyes of humanity. All he had was himself.     Which was why tear

War of Nerves - Chapter 1

1. V-Day, 16 August. The near future. As he looked up into the sky, Sam Steele was again annoyed at the levels of cloud cover. It was the height of summer, supposedly. Yet an enormous black cloud now sat over most of northern Europe, blotting out the sun, increasing humidity and lowering the temperature by a good few degrees.     ‘So much for a day off,’ Sam grumbled to his companion.     ‘Oh what do you want, Agent Steele?’ Jacinta Santos replied, playfully digging him in the ribs with her elbow. ‘We’re in Amsterdam, not Lisbon. Although that would have been my choice.’     Sam rolled his eyes. J

Rabbit Hunting

“Sshh...” Lily scolded, clamping her hand over Clayton’s mouth and glaring at the boy. “Mister Luckas says you have to keep your voice low, Clay, or you’ll scare the bunnies away.” “I was keeping my voice down!” Clayton complained. “No, not keep it down... I mean low. You have to talk lower. Like Mister Dastan when he’s being a dragon in story time. Mister Luckas said animals hear higher sounds a lot easier than lower sounds.” “Oh.” Clayton whispered, trying to lower the pitch of his of voice. “Better?” Lily nodded her approval. “Now we just have t

Endings

4 April 2017 They say all good things must come to an end. To Naza Goran, that end came far too quickly. Naza had spent the last decade and a half of her life under an assumed name, enjoying the benefits of a large payout from Russian intelligence for services rendered in preventing the US invasion of Iraq, along with other things. She’d once been in the employ of the British Home Office, a junior secretary in the Home Secretary’s staff until one day she’d been approached by the SVR with a request for help in preventing the impending American invasion of her parent’s homeland. She helped, more out of a desire to prev
